Dates Set for Sport Events Congress 2003

Ottawa, January 15, 2003 - The dates for Sport Events Congress 2003 have been confirmed for April 3 – 5 at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa.

Organized by the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA), in partnership with the Canadian Tourism Commission, Sport Events Congress is Canada’s largest annual gathering of sport events rights holders, event managers, convention and visitors bureaus and other sport and tourism professionals.

Sport Events Congress 2003 will once again feature an outstanding line-up of speakers and topics addressing new and emerging trends within the sport tourism industry. This year’s Congress content has been developed around the theme of event sponsorship and features a variety of best practices models and speakers from some of the top event organizers in Canada.

The Congress includes a session on building successful bids and also features the Sport Events Exchange, a business-to-business marketplace providing an opportunity for events rights holders to meet one-on-one with municipal representatives to explore bidding and hosting opportunities. A Training Workshop for the recently-launched Sport Tourism Economic Assessment Model (STEAM) is scheduled for Saturday, April 5th for CSTA members.

Registration fees are $450.00 for CSTA members and $550.00 for non-members (plus GST). Representatives of national/multi sport organizations who participate in the Sport Events Exchange will have access to a special Congress delegate rate of $225.00.
