Edmonton will host Red Bull Crashed Ice on March 9 and 10, 2018, as the pinnacle finale of the 2017/18 Ice Cross Downhill World Championship season. Alberta’s Capital City will be the final competition, following races in Saint Paul (USA), Jyväskylä-Laajis (Finland) and Marseille (France).

With both a passion for both winter and sports, Edmonton will continue to cement itself as a premier winter destination as a two-time host of Red Bull Crashed Ice. Edmonton Events, a strategic partnership between the City of Edmonton and Edmonton Tourism that attracts major sport and cultural events to the city, was instrumental in securing Red Bull Crashed Ice again in Edmonton. In 2015, the multi-day spectacle dazzled 80,000 spectators who witnessed some of the best skaters in the world battle on the gruelling natural ice track through Downtown Edmonton.

Ice Cross Downhill, an extreme winter sport event that is a dramatic combination of speed skating, boardercross, and downhill skiing, is entering its seventeenth year of international competition. Athletes hurtle down an urban ice track that weaves through city streets and down a massive ice track filled with drops and hairpin turns at speeds of up to 80 kilometres per hour.
