Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is this event an actual golf tournament?

The event is split into three different elements: The Sport Tourism FORE-um (round table discussions offering professional development and sharing of best practices), The Driving Range Social (a happy hour event immediately following the FORE-um) and [un] GOLF, a networking dinner event that includes a series of golf-like games and activities structured like a golf tournament. For more details, see How it Works.

How many people are expected to attend this event?

CSTA is forecasting 140-175 attendees. A list of organizations that attended in 2017 are here.

What is the breakdown of attendees? Who is the target audience for this event?

The room will be filled with 1/3 sport organizations who own the rights to events open for bid, 1/3 destinations (DMOs) and 1/3 industry suppliers (hoteliers, event management firms, venues, etc.).

Do I have to find my own foursome if I want to play golf on a team at [un] GOLF?

You can register as a solo attendee or in a group of 2, 3 or 4. If you want to ‘play’ the course and earn points to be eligible to win the tournament trophy and prizes, you’ll need to be on a team. We will match up people into teams if you choose not to register a team of 4 people.

What’s included in my registration fee?

Your registration fee includes your attendance at all three parts of the event, plus snacks and refreshments. A full meal will be served at [un] GOLF in the evening along with a complimentary drink. Our sponsors and partners have lots of gifts and prizes to be given away too!

If I only want to attend one part of the event, is there a separate registration or a lower registration fee?

Registration fees include all three elements of the event. However, during the online registration process, you will be asked to RSVP to indicate if you’re planning to attend the entire event or just some portion of it.

My plans have changed, can I get a refund?

There are no refunds, but you’re welcome to assign your registration to someone else in your place.

I am not a member of CSTA. Can I still attend this event?

This event is open to members of the CSTA only, however, only one person in your group needs to be a member. So, if you register 2, 3 or 4 people together and one person is a member you’re all set. More info on CSTA membership can be found here.

Is this an annual event?

In 2017 it was the inaugural year of the event with plans to host it annually

What types of games and activities are being offered at [un] GOLF? Do I need golf experience? Is there any equipment required?

What is the dress code?

We suggest business casual or golf attire in the afternoon. In the evening at [un] GOLF we encourage flamboyant golf attire (à la John Daly) or team costumes. There are prizes to be won!
