OFA to host 2012 Football Canada Cup at McMaster University

Football Canada is proud to announce that the best under-18 Canadian football players will be showcased next summer in Hamilton, as McMaster Athletics, in partnership with the Ontario Football Alliance (OFA) have been confirmed as the host for the 2012 Football Canada Cup (FCC).

The Championship has brought together eight teams from across Canada, representing the regions of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, and Nova Scotia, along with Ontario-East and Ontario-West. Having last played in the FCC in 2002, 2012 could mark the re-emergence of New Brunswick.

Played in a tournament format consisting of three game days, the Football Canada Cup displays the tremendous amount of amateur football talent from across the country.

For participating athletes, the FCC provides the chance to hone their skills at a national level.

“We look forward to partnering with McMaster University for the 2012 U-18 Football Canada Cup. It is a first class institution and has one of the best football facilities in the country”, said Tina Turner, OFA Executive Director. “We fully expect the event to be an amazing experience for everyone involved.”

Ian Smith, President of the OFA added, “This is a wonderful opportunity for the football community in Ontario to band together and represent our province in our own backyard, both in our presentation of the event and on the football field.”

The 2012 Canada Cup will kick-off on Sunday, July 15, with games played over the following week, culminating in the championship contest scheduled for Saturday, July 21, 2012. All games will be played at Ron Joyce Stadium.
