2018 Award Categories

Congratulations to all of the 2017 PRESTIGE Award recipients and finalists. The awards were presented during Sport Events Congress 2017 in Ottawa. Nominations now open for the 2018 PRESTIGE Awards in these categories:

CSTA Canadian Sport Event of the Year Award presented by Ottawa Tourism

The CSTA Canadian Sport Event of the Year Award recognizes the overall success of an outstanding single-sport, multi-sport or collegiate event held in Canada in 2017. 

  • The event rights holder is a Canadian governing body/entity. 
  • A Canadian community bid against other Canadian communities and/or was awarded the right to host the event. 
  • Participants in the event can be from Canada and elsewhere.
  1. Group A: event budget greater than $1 million
  2. Group B: event budget less than $1 million

CSTA International Sport Event of the Year Award presented by Edmonton Events

The CSTA International Sport Event of the Year Award recognizes the overall success of an outstanding international sport event held in Canada in 2017. 

  • The event rights holder is an International governing body/entity and a Canadian community bid against other international communities and won the right to host the event in Canada. 
  • Participants in the event can be from Canada and elsewhere. 
  • The event’s international broadcasting reach will be a significant part of the evaluation criteria.

CSTA Canadian Sport Event Sponsor of the Year Award presented by Adup Display

The CSTA Canadian Sport Event Sponsor of the Year Award recognizes the significant investment (either cash or in-kind) of a Canadian company, organization, agency or individual that positively contributed to the overall success of a national or international sport event held in Canada in 2017.

CSTA Sport Event Volunteer of the Year Award presented by Québec Destination affaires

The CSTA Sport Event Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes the outstanding contributions of an individual’s volunteer efforts during the hosting of a sport event in Canada in 2017. 

 

CSTA Sport Tourism Champion Award presented by ConnectOnCampus

The CSTA Sport Tourism Champion Award recognizes the outstanding contributions of an elected or paid official (federal, provincial, municipal) who greatly impacted sport tourism in their community in 2017. 

  • As part of the nomination application, the successes of the individual will also be considered dating back to a maximum of five years.

CSTA Sport Tourism Organization of the Year Award presented by WestJet

The CSTA Sport Tourism Organization of the Year Award recognizes the community or organization that best influenced sport tourism in their community in 2017. 

  • This award will recognize an organization or group of individuals who set the best example of attracting visitors to their community to participate as a participant or spectator in a sport event.

CSTA Sustainable Sport Event of the Year Award presented by CBC Sports

The award recognizes the outstanding achievements or contributions by individuals, companies or organizations that have helped advance sustainable and environmental stewardship within a Canadian Sport Event.

 

 

NEW this year at PRESTIGE Awards!

This year we are going to acknowledge the ‘next-gen’ of sport tourism professionals in Canada. Tell us about an emerging leader who demonstrates leadership, creativity, and dynamic energy who is working in sport tourism. The top three will be recognized at this year’s PRESTIGE Award luncheon in Halifax at Sport Events Congress 2018.
