SEC17 Hospitality Events
The CSTA and its partners are becoming famous for the evening hospitality events at SEC!
Who can forget the Rogers Centre (Toronto in 2010), the Oval (Richmond in 2012), the Women’s World Hockey game (Ottawa in 2013)?
More recently, we all have memorable moments to share from Edmonton in 2014 (dueling pianos and roller coaster rides) and rave-like after-parties. In Toronto we went under the sea at Night at the Aquarium and brought home a win at the Raptors game. In Ottawa in 2016, we ‘hurried hard’ at the Tim Hortons Brier.
Here’s a look at what is planned for SEC17:
Sunday, March 19, 2017
What happens when you combine Winterlude and Halloween? It’s a mash-up of a winter-themed social followed by a scary haunted walk. Be there if you dare!
Winterlude / Bal de Neige Reboot
Sponsored by Tourisme Outaouais & Ville de Gatineau
7 pm to 9:15 pm Snacks, Drinks & Campfire (on the 6th floor terrace of the Westin Hotel – indoors & out)
Sponsored by VIA Rail Canada
Do you believe in ghosts? Are you afraid of the dark? Our moonlit walking tour will take you to several spots in downtown Ottawa that are said to be inhabited by ghosts. Your spooky adventure will finish off at the Moscow Tea Room bar where you can toss back a stiff one to calm your shattered nerves!
9:30 pm to 10:30 pm
Meet In the lobby of the Westin Hotel for your guided walking tour throughout downtown Ottawa. Bundle up and bring a warm (spiked?) bevvie from the Winterlude-themed event to tie you over until you arrive (safely?) at the Moscow Tea Room.
10:30 pm to midnight
Snacks & drinks at the Moscow Tea Room in the Byward Market will help to calm your nerves and chase away the nightmares. If you were too much of a fraidy cat to take part in the Walk, feel free to meet your fellow delegates (who were obviously way more brave than you) for a nightcap. There’s a travel voucher on VIA up for grabs too! Ask for walking directions to the Moscow Tea Room at the Westin front desk.

Rock-n-Bowl & After-Party
Sponsored by: Ottawa Tourism
If a heart-thumping sound system, glow in the dark bowling balls, laser lights and a spread of delicious food and refreshing drinks make your heart sing, our rock-n-bowl evening is right up your alley (pun intended)!
6 pm to 7 pm
Brush up on your bowling terminology and board the bus with your bowling buddies to travel to Merivale Bowl. Meet in the Westin lobby because buses will depart the hotel at 6 pm & 6:15 pm for arrival at Merivale Bowl by 7 pm.
7 pm to 9 pm
Grab your bowling buddies and find a lane (bowling shoes will be provided). Bowlers will be assigned a team, a lane and bowling shoes will be provided. For those who prefer to sit back and watch all the action, the party room will be bumpin! Don’t forget to hydrate at the bar and carb load at the buffet… you’ll need to keep your energy level up for the After-Party!
9 pm to ??
Board the bus to travel back to the Westin (for those who need their beauty sleep) or keep the party going at Sens House in the Byward Market where more fun awaits! The party will continue into the wee hours if you like.
P.S You’re on your own to stumble back to the Westin at the end of the night.
